Highway 1 shutdown: Here’s where you can see the closures ahead

The highway system is under lockdown for about three hours Friday night and into Saturday morning, the last of the three phases of highway closure that have been in place since Hurricane Maria swept through the Caribbean last week.

The closure of highways 3 and 4 in New Orleans and Louisiana City will end the two-day period, according to the Department of Transportation.

The Louisiana Toll Road in New Orlean, the Louisiana State Highway System, the Port of New Orleans, the National Guard, and the U.S. Coast Guard are all under a six-day curfew.

The highway system was closed during Hurricane Harvey, which caused widespread flooding in the region.

The storm knocked out power to nearly 3 million people and caused the deaths of more than 60,000 people, according a recent study.
